Up coming

It seems like life is moving so fast these days and yet so slow at the same time. I've spent the last 2 weeks nice and sick with a lovely flu like I've never had before. Painfully sore back, light sensitivity, nausea, lack of hunger, weariness, achiness. Yesterday was the first day in almost 2 weeks that I woke up without any nausea, it was wonderful! It didn't matter that I still walked around like a zombie yesterday, I at least had a settled stomach.

Lots of things are happening these days. I'm starting my final practicum next Monday at Dr. Thomas Swift elementary school in a grade K/1 split class. It is a gradual entry into the classroom as we are still given time during the latter half of next week to work on lesson and unit plans for the 3 months. I will be teaching 80% for 7-8 weeks on this practicum in all subject areas. I'm excited and yet nervous about what to expect. Ahh.

I'm also still working at Payless a few hours a week just keeping my bills above water. I have put in an application for a bursary, so I am hoping that I will get a little bit of that 'free' money that is floating around. I'm pretty sure that I qualify for it!

We have sort of halted the wedding plans for now as I am going into the practicum. We have some of the major decisions already made: church, reception location, photographer, dress, bridesmaid dresses, invites decided upon etc. I am feeling ok about it, though we still have to decide on a pastor, hmm.

Lots of things to think about. I've gotten a bit behind on my school work lately because I have been sick, but that shall be remedied by the weekend, so it will be alright. :)

There has also been some hard to hear family news about my grandpa. He just finished his second round of chemotherapy and the results just came back to say that the cancer has continued to progress. He goes into his third round of treatment next Tuesday. My grandparents are doing amazingly well, but this has dampened their spirits a bit. We mostly expected to hear good news because he had been feeling quite a bit better. Life brings surprises. We live with them all.

Jess - it's just like you to have your wedding almost completely planned long in advance. I don't think you'll have anything to worry about! You get to teach K/1! What fun. Let me know if you need any grade one resources. But you probably already have it all planned...
