I am in! I have up to my max of 80% for a week and a half now. I am teaching those little kindergartens and grade ones. Yes I am. I am still getting into the groove of it all but it seems to be going well. I think I need to have more faith in my abilities as a teacher. It is so easy to doubt everything that you do and to question this and that....when it is not necessary. The learning curve is steep but I feel like it is becoming less steep and more manageable.
I am in the midst of teaching a unit on Identity, Society and Culture, and we started the 'Canada' component today. It is fun to see the students faces when they get excited about something. It is not so fun when I have to reprimand a student. With this age level I have to constantly be on the students and making sure that they are on task, keeping their hands to themselves and doing their work. It is quite different from grade 4, but I think I enjoy them both. It is quite the adjustment though.
I spend every evening working on plans and lessons. It is kind of crazy the amount of work that I am having to do. It is all getting done, but it does come with a price. I don't know when was the last time that I hung out with friends. For that I am sorry. It is not because I do not think of you. I would have an evening or two free mid week if I did not hold down the Payless job on the weekends. But since I need that job, it stays and other things suffer. 12 hours..... what I could do with those extra.... hmm. Well, I sort of have a spring break coming up in the next two weeks. I have to be in Chilliwack for the first week but I don't believe there is homework involved in that. The second week I must for sure get unit plans completed for the last 7 weeks I am in the school. But there will be free evenings! That is the plan. And I'm sticking to it. :)

Jess- that second week you're talking about, is that the week of the 15th onwards? Guess what? I have a real spring break during that week. May I be a part of one of your evenings during that time...?
