So that there practicum is more then half way over now! Why does it feel like time is just flying by? I feel like I just wrote that blog about it starting and now I've realized that it's been over 3 weeks! Almost 4.
I have taught health lessons, calendar, spelling, DPA (daily physical activity), art, talking tables (an ESL thing) and small groups. It is interesting being in 2 different rooms. I am in a grade 4 class on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and in a Skills room (special ed) on Wednesday and Thursday.
I'm finding that I have really high expectations for the students because I have come from a classroom of 35 adults! The learning curve has been steep but with every lesson I am learning more and more what the classes are capable of..... and what they are not. Usually I have way too much planned for one half hour lesson, but I suppose that is a good problem because I wouldn't want them to be just sitting there and staring at me because I have run out of things for them to do. :)
It is fun once I get up there in front of the students. Before hand however..... ahhhhh I get so nervous because I am formally assessed three times a week on various lessons. My nerves have calmed down A LOT since the first time though. So I guess I am getting more used to it but it still gives me the jitters.
This weekend I am already having to write my final evaluation for this practicum. Even though we have almost 2 weeks left we are supposed to hand in a rough draft by the middle of next week. I don't get it. Oh well. So my 'final progress report' will really be a 'half way through' report, but so be it.
Ok, so I should go and stop blah blah blahing. But guess what? I have another cold! I bet you didn't even know I had one. So now its almost been a month straight of hacking and sneezing. Yayy the joys of little children and their germs!
But they are so dang cute!

Jess - I would love to see you teach. I'm sure you're wonderful at it! I'm itching to see you. Let me know when you have a breather in what must be a very busy schedule. I may even be prepared to drive all the way to Abbotsford... :)
