Shocking

Driving home along Delair road last night around 1:00am, I saw 2 silouhettes on the side of the road to my right and one seemed to be stumbling. Moving over to the left lane in case one decided to jump onto the road, as I drove past I looked closer at them and saw that it was a young girl and guy arguing viciously. In my headlights I noticed that she had no shirt on and just as I was beside them he pushed her to the ground and moved closer to her again. She looked freaked out.....I began to freak out. My first instinct was to slam on my brakes and jump out and help her......but thankfully I don't always go by my instincts, because that could be dangerous. I pulled around the corner, dialed 911 and related what I had seen and where it was / I was. I was still on with the operater when I saw someone walking up behind my car in my rearview mirrow. It was a middle aged lady, and I got out to ask her if she had seen anything. She apparently knew the couple and said it was just a 'lover's quarrel.' Yeah right! The operater said I could let the lady leave, and as she walked away 4 cop cars went past me to where the couple had been. I was then informed that I could leave, because the police were with the COUPLE.

About 10 minutes after getting home I get a call from an officer asking if I had any more details about the young man because he had run off. That was confusing for me because I had been told that they were both being questioned. Anyway, they were still with the girl, and I don't know whether the angry guy got what he wanted, or was chased off by the police before hand. Since the police were calling me for more details on him..... the girl probably wasn't saying too much. I can't understand why she would protect him, and he was obviously guilty of something since he ran off.

The whole situation was/is very disturbing for me. People can be so nasty, its disgusting. It makes me sick. It was even more shocking because I had been at a Good Friday service earlier that evening, then spent a few hours with a friend.......two safe places that seem like polar opposites to the violence I witnessed.
