Feeding the Homeless

On Sunday I went with some people from my church and we fed the homeless people in Jubilee park. I had never done anything like that before. I have done Love Abbotsford, I've handed out flowers, I've been on Missions trips, but I've never done this.

I was having one of those feelings where I wanted to go, but I was having major doubts that I could be used or effective. In the end I decided to just try it, and it turned out great! It was fun to serve them hotdogs, coffee and juice....a friend and I even got our feet complimented. :)

There was a whole range of people there, from kids, to young adults, to elderly people....and a bunch of different nationalities. There was quite the spectrum of attitudes and behaviours aswell. Some people were rude, others jovial, others depressed, drugged up, tipsy etc. It was interesting to realize that simply smiling at all of these people no matter what their days had looked like, it could make a difference. I was a little timid at first because I did not know what to expect (and I have an active imagination), but just going there with my heart in the right place and a hot dog in one hand, perhaps it helped make someones day a little better.

Giving of my time certainly put me in a good mood for the rest of the day. I think the blessing can be twofold.
